    glow plug relay

Here ya go. You need to wire up a relay and a switch like this. Instead of powering a lightbulb, you're powering the glow plug rail. Same concept though.

Hmm yes, you may be on to something. Those ECUs are know to be a bit finicky. I’ve read somewhere on here about someone who fixes them for a reasonable price. I think I saw @Growlerbearnz commenting about it. I know a lot of the the guys here wire up a simple switch that bypasses the ECU and...

Hey Gang! @chulca is the proud new owner of my 89 Chamonix that I had posted here for sale a few weeks back. He's new to the community and is an awesome guy. I could not have envisioned my beloved van going to a better new owner. He's got a big roadtrip planned with his son so I want to get...

Anyone else take rear seat out fairly often and notice the front bolts getting harder and harder to thread in?

Thread chasing taps being better is a conspiracy dreamed up by the tap industry to make you buy more taps....:p Sure if you're making precision aerospace stuff by all means, use a thread chasing tap to clean up the threads. But for a 30 year old van with crusty seat anchor bolts, i think a...

Exxon Valdez Under the Hood After Road Trip

I went small at first and it proved totally worthless. it actually ADDED restriction to the venting system, which is what I think lead to my blowout. I scrapped the whole thing and went big. Pro-Vent. Here's a link to the convo with some photos of my install. it's not fun or easy, but God...

Exxon Valdez Under the Hood After Road Trip

Man, I'm still laughing about your Gary story... so the valvecover gasket, 1/2 moon seal, and those little rubber grommets on the valvecover bolts all got replaced at once. It was SUPER easy. Like easiest valvecover job I've ever done. The gasket just sits nicely into a little groove that...

A drunk couple, a 94' Chamonix, and Me (with pics)

Wow! Definitely get Gary to sign the dent before you get it fixed. When I worked for Segway we had holes in the drywall all over the R&D lab and the production floor where people wiped out and hit the wall. Company policy was you had to autograph your damage. Anyway, Gary is probably the...

Where to install sensors for AFR/EGT/Oil Pressure/Oil Temp/Coolant Temp/Turbo Boost etc...

They're not? I dunno, I just screwed the sender in. Went in fine by hand for a few turns then I tightened up the rest of the way with a wrench. All seemed normal. Tightened right up, no leaks.

    What does this mean?

That's your turbo down there. Soak everything oily in Simple Green then get in there with a scrubby brush and brush the heck out of it before hosing off. Buried under all that gunk is a short section of hose (circled in red) that connects the turbo to the intake manifold. My bet is you have a...
