    Bad Turbo and Replacement Shenanigans

True, but my experience with VWs leads me to believe that it's not far different. All the same I'm glad to have the truck and for the time being it means spreading out the mechanical investments. I have to keep them both running.

    Bad Turbo and Replacement Shenanigans

You calling me paranoid? Checked and yeah, water in the filter. Changed the filter and the ran it without any of the white smoke. Okay, so now I'm back to too-much-fuel/not-enough-air problem. My next step is to install the boost gauge and see what that looks like. I may take it into a local...

    Bad Turbo and Replacement Shenanigans

Heyya GrowlerbearNZ, Here's a better response. First, a huge thank you for the insights from your side of the pond. My last reply was short, yesterday I took some heavy damage working at my job and that's all I could muster. "So, are those two posts connected inside the air side of the turbo...

    Bad Turbo and Replacement Shenanigans

Update: New wastegate actuator is installed. I test drove the can after I got it all put together. The good news is that it's working. The bad news is that it's still blowing black smoke when accelerating or pulling a hill. My guess at this point is: a) That the IP needs to be adjusted to...

    New turbo

I got a Korean Hyundai rebuild that is in great shape for about $600 via Rising Sun in BC. It's a dickens of a job to do and do right, but the turbo is good quality.

    Stereo Installation Information

Yep, I don't recall the brand of machine that was in there but I did have to test the speaker leads with a 9 volt to wire it correctly.

    Part Number Thread for L300

The L300 came with the 4d56 so unless you have the gas version they should work fine. Check megazip.net, Amayama.com or eoc-data for part numbers if you want to use you VIN to find originals
