IMG_1500.JPGThis is our recently acquired 1991 VW Jetta diesel with the 1.6 N.A engine. Look at this display of mighty diesel horsepower!

IMG_1508.JPGIt's got 288,420 on the engine, smokes like 80's movie gangster at a card game, and the blow-by is so bad it pushes the dipstick out the tube but I'm in love with this little thing. It's a 5speed too.

IMG_1506.JPGWe got it for my wife to drive to work and replace the 1990 Toyota Camry we've been driving into the ground, which is not easy to do with a 1990 Camry. That's one tough car. 3 accidents in 2 months, one with a Semi and it's still going everyday. Anyway, after two days of experiencing the joys of spartan German engineering, she fell in love with the Jetta and simultaneously vowed never to drive it to work again:D. It's mine now!

Cheers everyone,

Morgonzo

Hahaha! I had a friend who ran his old VW on tiki torch oil. Give it a try?! Enjoy the new whip! With a NA diesel at least you'll learn patience, because there will be no accelerating.

Thanks dude! What I find funny is that there isn't a Tach on this car. Just red marks on the speedo when they want you to shift, basically rev until it won't rev 'no 'mo and then kick and push to the next gear. If I keep it, it'll get a straight pipe, K+N filter and the governor mod.
Tiki torch oil eh? I'm thinking about doing the grease-car thing, but the next money I spend on it will have to be wheels because the white ones are not hub-centric....I was told by the VW shop guys not to take it on the highway because of that Oops! To late.
At least no one tailgates me because of the smoke-screen that goes where ever I go:p
