exhaust complete

We opened up our exhaust to 2.5", and dropped in a K&N air filter to help keep the exhaust temps cooler. The noise is not that noticeable. Next, the pyrometer. I thought someone posted a pod that monitors your water, trans, boost, and exhaust temp. I can't seem to find the thread. It looks pretty awesome. I'll keep looking for it. Boise Muffler charged $100 for the install and I supplied the magnaflow 10416 muffler on Amazon for $68. K&N was $97 on Amazon part number E-4810. IMG_0476.jpegIMG_0477.jpegIMG_0475.jpeg

Put some miles on her today. Letting her breath has definitely improved power(not neck breaking). Mainly did it to protect the motor. We'll see if it increases the mpg as well. Noise has increased, but not much. Turbo whine is definitely more pronounced. I think getting cooler air with a snorkel, will improve all of the above. I'll post an update. I was worth the $270 for sure.

That's a great price for the job! The downside to side exit exhaust is that it completely coats the wheel behind the exhaust outlet with soot. I have polished aluminum wheels on mine; 3 very nice polished wheels and now one very dark, almost powdercoated black wheel.

FYI - side dump mufflers @ 2.5" are the way to go. Tons of people up in Vancouver have these. We all got to Hoegler's muffler in Richmond, BC.

It's also about 50% the price of running replacement pipes and muffler all the way back tot the rear....at least 50%, probably more.

Where's the video?!?! Hehe

Weird, I made a vid for you guys and it won't let me post it. Wonder if its because I have a Mac?

Could you post it to YouTube?

FWIW, I also now have a '92 Pajero with the same 4D56 engine (although it's intercooled). It had a straight pipe on it and it isn't too loud at all. I drove it from Houston, TX home to Portland, OR and it was nice and quiet. Interesting in hearing what your setup sounds like!
