    Turbo wastegate setup on L300

Thanks for the info. Nomadic supposedly did these changes. I paid for it anyway… when I had the waste gate slack and if it made 5 psi, it did some black smoke under acceleration. Back at 10 psi, it seemed normal. The main issue is that I don’t know if Nomadic actually made any changes. I got...

    Turbo wastegate setup on L300

It’s been here most of the time I’ve had it back. It was the same at Nomadic in Idaho. Thanks!

    Turbo wastegate setup on L300

I’m pretty realistic about the response, I’ve put about 9000 miles on, for reference. I’m at 6000 feet, but it just doesn’t seem as perky as it was earlier. I’m curious that it can’t make more than 10 psi, regardless. Thanks for your input!

    Turbo wastegate setup on L300

Thanks! I’ll double check, but hopefully this was covered with the $7000 repair visit at Nomadic. Fuel filter and fixtures are new, air filter was reported to be good. As I doubt any of the work done, it is worth a look.

    Turbo wastegate setup on L300

This is great info, thank you! So, I re-adjusted the rod, back to 10 psi peak. What are some signs of a failing turbo? There are no glaring issues, starts and runs fine, etc. Does the turbo just start to spool slower and weaker as it gets tired? The van runs fine, it just seems less...

    Turbo wastegate setup on L300

Thanks for the reply! I reset the actuator rod, and I'm back to 10 psi. Interestingly, I found this fine engineering addition. I'm guessing a Mickey mouse attempt to override the relief valve. I'm shaking my head. What do you think? Eliminate this? Thanks for the info.

    Turbo wastegate setup on L300

Hello all, Months later, I’m still trying to clean up the results of my 4 month visit to Nomadic Vans in Idaho. I recently finished installing the 3rd alternator after the visit. I’m pretty confident that despite paying them labor, it’s done correctly, now, because I installed this one. So...

Well, the repair drama continues, Nomadic Vans replaced my cylinder head and I’m hoping, also the rocker cover gasket. It’s leaking like a sieve, and now, smoking as I go down the road. Tomorrow, I’ll pull it off and see what’s going on. Sadly, my confidence in any of the work done continues to...

I agree, if the expectation is set upfront, then it’s up to the customer if they want to wait or not. If the work is done right and diagnosed properly, it’s the price to pay for having a unique and uncommon vehicle. Where I’m baffled, is this is a shop that makes a living and pays their bills...

Thanks for the reply, I came from 25 years in the car biz, there was nothing about this that was done like a real business. All they do is Delicas. Parts are easy, stock the fast movers and consumables. I brought it to them for a full go through. It still doesn’t need a radiator. I’m sitting in...

Update: Nomadic not recommended I wouldn’t recommend this shop, very nice guys, they had my L300 for 4 months, misdiagnosed an obvious head gasket issue, tried to pitch parts that weren’t needed, told me my radiator was “full of pinholes” (still going strong and diagnosis retracted) and had an...

Looking for west coast Delica service

Thanks for the reply. Not much luck with the list. I’ve contacted shops that tell me that they no longer work on the Delicas. I’ve got my L300 at one of the highly recommended shops, and have lost confidence in their ability to handle the work. I’m looking for alternatives, or I’ll just park it...

Looking for L300 repair shop, west coast.

Hello everybody, Can anybody recommend a good, experienced, Delica L300 repair shop on the west coast? I’m trying to avoid someone learning to work on an Delica at my expense. It is currently at Nomadic in Idaho, but realistically, if I leave it there, I won’t see it until the beginning of the...
