I don't know your situation or where you live (both important factors) but for myself living in my L300 full time a combination of keeping the front windows cracked at night and not keeping closed up constantly is plenty to keep the inside of the van comfortable and not a swamp. Having rain...
Are you using the stock gauge to decide if it's overheating or an aftermarket one? I only ask because the oem ones can false readings and it isn't in the realm of impossible since you've had blown headgaskets before. Again just trying to cover all the bases.
After looking over their website they atleast seem quite knowledgable. I wasn't able to find any reviews on them as a company though. I am tempted to just order one and see...
Just a few thoughts, the head can definitely be machined. There of course a limit to how much can be removed and the service manual has specs for that, but you also don't know yet whether it needs it. It's all speculation until you tear it down and start measuring and inspecting things.
I...
Another thought, it is possible to have cracks between the cylinders on the block. Atleast on the g54b it tended to happen from an overheating incident coupled with someone just slapping a new headgasket on and sending it. It was believed it had to do with surface etching and heat after that...
First and foremost I want to make sure you know that I'm not asking questions to imply you don't know what your doing (ex. replacing headstuds). This is just a complex subject and asking means we all get closer to understanding the facts centered around your problem. It sounds like you know...
That is a lot of info to take in. To keep on topic and answer your question... yes... kinda. You can certainly remove glazing with a quick hand honing but I feel like you may be a bit over optimistic about solving your problem. Don't get me wrong, I don't have all the details but based on what...
Haha guilty as charged. Perpetual traveler just trying to climb anything I see. I take it you are as well? The pecker is a pretty obscure bit of knowledge now days.
I feel like the question of cooking location really comes down to a ton of different factors. What do you cook, how and when you use your van, what type of cooking fuel do you use, where do you have space, and like @DeliKit talks about, what kind of experience feels best.
If you fry things like...
Dang, yea my buddy up in Duluth was saying they have had very little snow and warm temps too. I tend to swing back towards WI / MN around mid April but I still have a lot of places I want to explore out here right now.
How have you and your delica been @moonpost? I met you at the All Mitsu...
Is it actually spring yet? I'm still out in southern AZ. I'd be down for a meetup once I'm back in the midwest, it'll be awhile yet though. Planning on heading up into Oregon, Idaho, etc in the coming weeks.
The cows are quite curious down here lol.
Here is an example of how I did mine just so I'm not only say "Don't do this!" It's basically a simplistic take on the VW camper van layout. I figure they knew what they were doing both in simplicity and efficiency.
I guess the first advice I'd give is don't do what lots of people do and tear out the stock interior parts. So many people do that and then try sticking wood to every surface leading to both a heavier van and a cobbled together mess. Leave every thing in, remove the seats, and build a modular...
Hello everyone, I'm currently near Tucson AZ and plan on being around AZ for awhile before moving on. I figured why not see if anyone was interested in meeting up, maybe doing some chill camping in a scenic place!
Anyone interested?
