Looking for the fusible link kit sk66 was selling some time ago! Had a new engine and all accessories installed a year ago and my old problem of intermittent starting has reared it’s head again! New batteries, tight connections, all lights work but no go at times.flip

What makes cold-weather diesel starting easier, warm oil or warm fuel?

lower is certainly better but bottom line any of the heaters mentioned will help. i haven't looked yet but plumbing it into the cab heater supply line which is connected to the radiator should work as well. in alaska you needed to be able to start the vehicle and you needed defrost and cab heat...

What makes cold-weather diesel starting easier, warm oil or warm fuel?

IMO as i've said before, when i lived in alaska the best systems for diesels heated the water which heated the entire engine and had the added benefit of instant cab heat. good multi grade synthetic oil 5w40 and an anti gel to the fuel certantly helps. a heater hose or radiator hose inline...

    Engine Block Heater

my opinion is based on when i lived in alaska where if you didn't have a heater you couldn't start your car or truck or heavy equipment. glue on silicone pads work o.k. but they had to be left on in really cold temps and really only heated the oil. freeze plug heaters worke.uld leave your...

Visit from a rat, where does it come from?

left, from the inside of vehicle. the whole engine bay and battery area is open and there is no way to seal it off. my problem was critters getting INSIDE the van. flip

Visit from a rat, where does it come from?

i had a similar problem and found the entrance was the fresh air intake behind the left headlight. i removed the headlight and installed over the intake area some 1/4 in wire mesh pop rivited thru the mesh with washers. i'm not talking screen but HD mesh called hardware cloth here. also put some...

    Reinforcing the front bull bar

they are just there for looks. a rear tow receiver and hitch will give you some protection in the back and a spare on the front will do the same. unless you spend some serious $$$$ to have something custom made; after all it's unibody and whatever structure you bolt up is only as strong as what...

    Reinforcing the front bull bar

mount a spare tire to the front bull bar! i did that on all my VW bus's for extra protection. buy a commercial trailer spare mount and have someone weld it to the existing bull bar. you'll have to re-mount aux lights outboard of spare.

    mice

well i finally got a decent day, if you can call 35 degrees decent and pulled out the left headlight and covered the intake with 1/4 inch hardware cloth and riveted it in place. no more mice will get in that way; now to address the engine compartment with extract of mint, by spraying all over...

    mice

well, yesterday i removed glove box and washer fluid tank to access the ducting in the footwell. when the fresh air recirculated air duct was seperated from the flexible duct i found the problem; dead mice, maggots and a lot of insulation from the passenger side of the engine compartment bay...

thank's so much; i'll start with the footwell ducting first, then remove headlamp and make some kind of screenwire cover to keep this from happening again. smells awful! love this site and all the helpful people. flip
