    Exhaust Manifold Work

Once the exhaust manifold gasket and head gasket are replaced, Matilda should run much smoother. She’s a little shaken right now with leaks from both. Can anyone tell me if the measurement of pressures etc should be on a cold engine or a warm one? I speak a little Japanese, but don’t read any at...

What Did You Do for Your Van Today?

The snorkel went on today. It took us some time to decide how to proceed, but better that than cut holes too quickly…. Torsion bars adjusted and wheels aligned as well.

What Did You Do for Your Van Today?

I didn’t do anything complicated. I changed the oil, but also changed my brand. The Rotella I usually use turned out to be more expensive than liquid gold. I switched to Mobile Delvac 15w40. I use 40w Delvac on my boat and have been very happy with it so I figured I’d give it a try in Matilda...

    Oil choices

OK, that makes sense. I am going to switch to Mobil Delvac 1300 Super 14w40. I use Mobile Delvac 1240 40w in my boat and have always been happy with it. I just have to make sure I don't accidentally swap oils between the two !

    Oil choices

I have been using Rotella T5 15w40 since I bought Matilda. Thus far it seems to have been a good choice for the 4D56. I was shocked by the price increase when I went to look for oil today however. I usually buy several gallons so it lasts a few changes this I haven’t bought any oil in a while...

    A little help

Don’t know where the previous owner is. It was purchased at an auction. I think he has decided to ship it rather than drive X-country.

    A little help

Delibros, A friend in my neighborhood bought a 92 L300 that is in Puyallup, WA. He’s flying out from VA to bring it back but it needs work. Anybody know a shop in that area that can go through it, replace a blown tire, etc? Any steer would be appreciated. Noogie

Heads Up On Bilstein 24-013369 Shocks

The Bilsteins are on and the difference is pronounced. I should have put new shocks on long ago. No longer does my front shoulder dip when making a turn. Far better ride at highway speeds and slow crawl. Get ‘em while they’re hot!

You wouldn’t happen to be buying them from Martin at Autobahn Auto, would you? If so, that would be a “holy shit, small world” moment.

Perfect, I have an appointment today here in Hampton. Hopefully I have the same experience as you did. I also picked up some Bilstien front shocks that I am putting on.

Maybe once the weather and COVID restrictions get a little less onerous (this spring, I hope) we could get the Virginia Delicas all together. I’m always up for something.

Heads Up On Bilstein 24-013369 Shocks

Thanks Allular. I just ordered a pair as I’ve been needing front shocks for a little while now, but was looking for Bilsteins. I have been a Summit Racing customer for a while and have always been happy with them.
