I've been working with an outfit that's importing a '94 L400 SpaceGear Long Wheelbase 4m40 with 5 Spd Manual. I was told that since this vehicle is very rare, the price is $29,500. This includes their full maintenance routine, roof rack and new tires. I was looking for something like this but the price was not exactly what I had in mind. I've never owned a Delica so I don't know if the price is right. If anyone would like to put in their 2 cents, I'm all ears.2ndRowSeats.jpgDriverSideInterior.jpgEngine.jpgFront.jpgFrontRight.jpgInstrumentCluster.jpgLeftSideOpen.jpgRear.jpgRearInterior.jpg

The long wheelbase is rare, but depending on what you want it for the extra length can be a negative. I think that's priced a bit high, here's a comparable with fewer miles for a few $k less from a reputable shop https://nomadicvan.life/rango

It certainly is, but I wanted a manual. By the way, since you included the website of the shop, guess which shop I'm working with on this one.........(hint: it's a reputable shop.) ;)

Have you shopped in the British Columbia Canada market? Importing from there is straight foward

Unless I can get one with a U.S. title, it will be a hurdle trying to get it registered here in PA. I called the DMV here and they literally read the requirements for registration of an import from "the book." One of the things they quoted was that I have to have a letter from the manufacturer stating certain facts about the vehicle. I told them that an import vehicle would come with export documents, DOT and EPA exemptions among other things but they just said that they were reading the requirements as "they are written." So it looks like it's going to be an onerous undertaking to try and register an import here in PA.

Just a heads up; the manual transmission is far less common than the auto because the auto has more gears/greater range, as well as more power and better fuel economy.
Sounds strange, but I wanted a manual myself until I looked into how the transmission on these beasts works. In the end, I got a 1995 Royal Exceed - LWB, Auto, all the trimmings.

Actually, the required "properly completed NHTSA form HS-7" makes that letter from the manufacturer *not* required.

That letter *is* required if the completed form HS-7 states that the vehicle is less than 25yrs old and meets the FMVSS requirements (it's the verification "attachment" to form HS-7).

I find this hard to believe. There aren't many cars out there where the auto outperforms the manual (in the pre-CVT era) for fuel economy or power. It's not like these these have massive power though, and any differences might be hard to tell.

I also have doubts the auto has more power, or better economy. Interested to see any of that info.

Its been the opinion on the other forums, mostly because the gearing on the manual tops out earlier than the auto. So if you are doing highway cruising, you have better gearing.

I don't remember where those posts are - I was researching my van in 2008
*EDIT*

Just looked up some old posts on the Oz forum.

Seems like the manual is slightly more efficient - though not much lighter overall. (only about 15 kilos) If you are towing the manual is superior. If on sand, Auto is superior.
