A/T Light issues?

Hey,

My A/T light came on today and won’t go off.
I have read the forums and done all the suggestions with no resolution: unplug sensor and put water on coolant line make sure it steams and not sizzle.

Here is the status of my transmission based on characteristics:
- warm (not hot) to the touch
- coolant exit line warm (not hot) to the touch
- unplugged sensor and the light was still on
- transmission fluid is still a nice pink/clear, doesn’t smell, and is warm to the touch
* “warm to the touch” = no issues with skin contact for what would be an extended period of time
* all surrounding dash lights work ( it takes a love tap for some sometimes)

Possible wiring issue? It is my daily and we have had some deep snow in the last few weeks. This means the undercarriage is being pelted with junk while driving.

What are your thoughts?

Thanks!

Yes... I'm 90% you have a short in the wiring. I'm pretty sure the temp switch completes a ground and the light should not illuminate with it disconnected. That said, I have not checked the schematics...

Great! This is best possible case in my opinion. Last thing I want is a fried transmission (as my only car). I’ll wait for others to chime in before I decide which route I will go about fixing it.

Thanks!

Shorts often have a funny way of wiggling and making/breaking contact... otherwise known as electrical gremlins.

I’ll just put and trans temp gauge in since that is faulty.

I was sitting in traffic so I wasn’t even hammering my transmission… that’s why I hoped it was wiring haha
