Air escaping or getting into IP via main seal

Hey all, since I have the IP exposed I figured I should ask this question. If I apply slight pressure with my finger to the IP front shaft I can hear air trying to escape or enter from the seal area. I first noticed this when I did my timing belt putting pressure on the sprocket to adjust the belt. Didn't pay much attention to it but it seems kinda odd.

The pump doesn't leak at all and my van starts very fast when cold so no issues. Idle is fine too.

Just figured I would see if the main seal should be replaced? Thanks.

Oh yes, change it before putting it back together. As these pumps are belt driven. there is constant tension on the drive shaft. It will wear out the two driveshaft support bushings in the injection pump housing.

If you try and move the shaft sideways there maybe more movement in the direction the belt pulls.

Thanks Scott, will replace.
You can replace IP main seal while you are there. In stock.
Steven I'll be riding my bike back to the shop tomorrow for the seal
