Just finished up my first mod...Snorkel Install.

Still need to fully secure the snorkel inlet to the flex hose, the kit came with a hose clamp but it needs to be inside of the panel so I'm not sure how I'd tighten it down. I'm thinking of using some sort of plumbers glue instead but that means the snorkel will more or less be permanently attached to the hose.

She sounds mean at idle for sure and under load you can hear the turbo much more and just the general air suction. Hopefully will have an egt temp guage here soon enough, I'm interested to see how much cooler the egt's are and if to see if there is any improvement in gas milage. Once I open up the exhaust she'll really be purring!

Does anyone have any experience putting a chip on these engines?, basically turning up the fuel injection and boost. Nothing to crazy but maybe a little more power can be made?!

Pumped to finally dig into to the Deli! She's pretty fun to work on so far! Only 3 weeks in and I drilled a hole into my van, can't wait to see whats next!

Anyways heres a picture or two...

Where'd you end up getting yours from? I reached out to FTS 4x4 to try and order direct but they never responded, and DelicaUSA charges a premium compared to the shops just a little ways north in Canada.

I grabbed mine from DelicaUSA when I picked up my van, I just had it included in the price. Not sure why FTS wouldn't be able to help you out.

Nice, looks good. Curious to know the results of gas mileage / power change, though it seems like it might be negligible. Also, in regards to your chip/boost question, seems like that'd be just another opportunity for it to overheat, but if someone finds a way, wouldn't mind adding a TOUCH more power. That being said I don't own a van yet, all speculative :]

If anyone is curious...I did see a small increase in the performance of the engine after the snorkel install and a Stanadyne Fuel Additive. It wasn't anything huge but I noticed I didn't need to downshift quite as often going up hill. I have a 5 MT and live in southern Colorado...the 'hills' around here are pretty damn big so being able to keep it in 5th while cruising up was enough of an improvement for me. Also my millage seemed to increase slightly as well. You can really tell that the 4D56 loves to get the cold air from up top as opposed to from the stock cold air intake.

Here's a pic from where I ended up...Canyon Lands National Park, Utah!Deli_Desert.jpg

That's really good to know. I'm 99.9% sure I'll never actually *need* a snorkel. But getting a bit more power and cooler air sounds like a real benefit.

Curious, did you do the K&N filter as well?

Ha yea me too I'm not sure how many pond crossings I'll be doing but it looks gooooood!

I have not done that yet, but its forsure on the list. I figure she'll be breathing about as well as she can after that.
