Fuel filler flap door won't open

Hi all, my fuel flap/door will not open anymore after pulling the lever. I'm almost out of fuel and getting a bit desperate (planning to take it into a shop tomorrow if I can't fix it myself).

I'm not sure what is the specific issue – the cable? The lever itself? The fuel flap?

I couldn't find anything on the forum to help diagnose and solve this, so wonder if anyone has any advice here.

Nevermind - fixed!

Sorry, can't seem to figure out how to delete my posts on this forum.

It was simply the cable underneath the lever not pulling. It seemed to have loosened so I was able to just manually pull the cable without the lever.

Glad you got it figured out! Sometimes the end of the cable sheath (the red bit) comes unhooked from the lever bracket, and when you pull the lever it moves the cable and the outer sheath together.

Ok, here is how to open the fuel door with a length of wire. I had safety wire on hand which most won't have, but any similarly small stiff wire should do.

First create a loop about 1/2" wide at ~ 90˚.

Insert the wire loop near the bottom of the fuel door and rotate it 90˚ so the loop is pointed towards the interior.

Slide it upwards until it hooks onto the release catch, and then pull upwards at a fairly steep angle; the latching mechanism should release. This shows the point at which the door opened.

This picture shows what/where you are hooking the wire to. That is a little hooked extension at the bottom of the catch which seems like it is there for this purpose; or maybe there is some special tool that is meant to hook onto it to release the latch...
