Georgia followed Maine and the other few states with revoking all Kei vehicle titles a few years ago, but nothing really happened until now. You, me and everyone else knows Delicas aren’t Kei vehicles but we’ve seen other states lump them into that category. Ignorance is bliss the lobbying groups responsible for things like this, but that’s not news to us. Georgia DOR just posted the attached notice stating all Kei vehicles titles will soon be revoked. They are stating that any tag office that titles a “Kei” recently has simply just “dropped the ball in follow through”. This is all under the guise of “safety”. Spare your comments of Delicas/keis/whatevers are safer than a model t that’s on the road, a motorcycle, or the rednecks riding in the bed of a truck. I’m not looking for those responses. I’m seeking anyone else from another state or here in Georgia that has or is currently dealing with this. No one I know who owns a delica has received a notice, yet, but a local kei van guy has. I know there are loopholes with Montana, so before just commenting “Montana LLC”, please only do so if you can give us Georgians some solid adversarial advice on the steps to make that happen. Much like you guys, I’ve poured so much time, money and joy into my van. They’ll have to pry it from my fingers to get me to just fold without a fight or a clever workaround.
Cheers!
