Hose missing from intake by air filter?

Well, there is a part (11089Q in the picture below) that goes there...
But, I didn't even have the 11089 down pipe that you have. In reality, there is no real reason for that hose, air is flowing into the compartment from the intake and from underneath, it then gets sucked into the air cleaner.
So, don't sweat it. Plus, the part is no longer available from Amayama.
That part was discontinued around '89. It provides no real benefit and it could actually be problematic in a deeper water crossing.
With the two pipes separated the compartment acts like a pre-filter chamber; as the airstream moves into the larger area it slows down and allows larger/heavier stuff (water) to fall out.
