Logo light engaged

I used Kyre's guide just ordered some LEDs through this link soldered them in I thought I did it wrong because it was light out it has to be sunset to dark to really see the fiber optics
 
Did the original fixture have a replaceable bulb - eg. like a wedge base type (aka W5W, T10, 194)...or was it potted with that white insulation? Thanks.
 
I also did that mod last week. The lights were perma-mounted with the white stuff. Just knocked it out with a small screwdriver used as a punch. I got the LEADTOPS LED lights and they were just slightly larger than the original light shroud but a light bit of drill action made 'em fit perfectly. Worked great!
