Maybe need a appraisal thread?

I’m a member of a classic cycling group too because I used to collect classic lightweight bicycles and we always had a thread on our list that was basically called appraisals. It was nice because allowed people to post what they were thinking about selling and asking to get on the fair market prices on what they should ask. It wouldn’t be like a pre-sale or a floating the van across the pages to see if you get any bites, but rather a page where you said that you had a, 1993 fill in the blank for sale and it included the following parts and new items. Then it would ask what the opinion of the group was overall for a possible fair market price to ask for the vehicle.

Has it ever been attempted or considered? Or is it better just to get a general bar park idea and post the item for sale with the information of or best offer, or open for discussion? Or?

What I sometimes see is somebody who is not sure what to ask and they post it, and then nobody asks any questions, or follows up on it by saying, hey, it is probably worth this because…

A lot of times you see some post that are saying , you are asking too much but then it doesn’t elaborate and it looks like a harsh response. But deep down I don’t believe it’s supposed to be a harsh post at all, but rather typing on a forum doesn’t express emotions in any way, and therefore it can be taken the wrong intention. Intention might very well be, hey, you know what, you’re asking too much and here’s why. But the sentiment doesn’t come across well on the list post.

Has this ever been considered or is it just a scratch and post as a complete item for sale and just say straight up in the post that you’re not sure what I ask but, etc.
