Admin: TL;DR: Deliman9000 is surprised to find a newer engine in his old Delica, identified by the timing belt shape and water-cooled turbo. Posts lightly edited for the FAQ.
I am currently changing the timing belt on my 1989 l300 Delica.
The old balance belt I pulled off is an OEM MD310484, which after some digging revealed itself to be meant for a post 04/93 delica.
The new balance belt I am trying to install is a Gates T092 (MD363481 for pre 04/93 Delica) .
It seems like it doesn't mesh with the balance belt gears at all and I am confused if this is even the correct belt. In addition to this, I tried to reinstall the new Gates belt to see if I could even get it on and it was impossible to get behind the belt tensioner. Seems like in the youtube videos I watched they guys just slipped on brand new belts on with minimal effort.
Anyone got a match for MD363481 because according to mitsubishi EPC that is the correct number for a '89 deli
Thanks all!
