Transmission cooler

Aloha and happy new year one and all just wondering has anyone put in a separate tranny cooler in there l300 with auto trans??
Was thinking of doing something separate from the Delica works radiator.

So what are the two transmission lines going into the bottom of the radiator for ?
Primary cooling... the secondary radiator only gets airflow when the van is moving; and it is somewhat prone to becoming plugged with mud/snow due to its location. Similarly, having the transmission fluid pass through the same radiator as the engine coolant helps warm the transmission in cold environments.

On this topic, both the trans cooler and oil cooler are now 30years old. Aside from obvious fin damage, is there any reason why these would not be as efficient at cooling as they were on day one? Such as oil or film buildup inside of them?

Not really... they are much more protected than the cooling system is by using oils w/ detergents; they are less prone to extended neglect as well (lack of fluid changes, at least engine oil), and far less prone to harmful contamination from mixing.

Say I wanted to replace a seeping transmission oil cooler line just above the front skid plate... where would I find said part number to source one?

Rubber transmission hose can be purchased at any auto parts store. I replaced the entire trans cooler with a unit that has a fan.

Is your trans temp high?

No, I'm just working through all the problem areas I can find on my new-to-me L400 and this seeping hose above the skid plate is one of them. I'd rather address is now before it becomes a problem area on a road trip.

@The Tick

off topic...your steering shaft doesn't look stock, pretty beefy looking. I shred the one that came with my lift and had to rebuild it. Interested in what you have going on with yours.

I took two stock steering shafts because I wanted a u-joint at each end, plus I needed it longer for my lift. I used a piece of heavy walled tube to sleeve the two ends together and then welded it in place.
