Lifters making loud noise following plug and oil change

sadly it is possible. that is why when having any hole opening into the motor you might want to put something in the hole to stop that odd bit from going in. It does not happen often but it does happen. By chance they did not break one of the original spark plugs?

    -15F cold start

i agree it will not ignite at 80 degrees however it is likely the temp of a nice sunny day, and you rarely here someone say i have "pretty day" hard start problems... The piston probably likes that extra 75 degrees it does not have to generate. And 10w 30 is good down to -25C And remember i...

    -15F cold start

i just dont see the 4D56 motor being so tight as to really be restricted because of oil flow. Given the metal stuff will all be smaller till it warms and expands. The fuel however only moves a few inches to the IP and a few more inches to the injectors. If the fuel is hot say 80 F it is close...

    -15F cold start

what worked for me at 5 F was to heat the fuel separator/filter so the fuel was ready to spark off right away. I could see where adding a heat wrap pad to the filter full time would be easy.

What Did You Do for Your Van Today?

a brief PSA I have posted this before, but it really needs to be said again... Low coolant can sometimes cause a head gasket on your engine block to blow. If this happens, you may notice smoke emitting from the engine or tailpipe, a loss of power, engine knocking sounds, or decreased...

Nasty-sounding squeal/screech on startup, completely goes away at 3K rpm and doesn't come back

an easier method is to fill a spray bottle with tap water and spray the belts. When wet they likely will not squeal till the water dries.

    Tire pressure

a bit technical... because of ideal gas law the increase in temperature of the gas the volume or preasure has to change. Given the tire is pretty strong and likely does not swell the preasure is what goes up. PV=NRT
