Aftermarket Parts?

Hey everyone,

I've been having some possible clutch issues with my Delica (L300, Manual, Petrol) lately. After taking it in to a local (Delica specialist) shop that was quoting me $1366 for parts alone to do the clutch I decided to take a peek for myself to see what kind of parts pricing I could find. I've never done a clutch, but I've pulled engines and done other more involved work before so the idea of doing the labour myself isn't too daunting, especially when they are looking at charging me another $1200 for the labour, but parts pricing is being a little painful. Part of this is definitely down to the fact that I have the delightfully unfortunate combo of a 4G64 gas engine and manual transmission which means the significantly more common parts designed for the diesel manuals will not work.

After doing some Amayama deep dives I've managed to scrounge together what appears to be enough pieces to do the job myself which, including shipping estimates from Japan, will come in at CAD $673.38. Now, being generally cautious all of those pieces appear to be OEM or factory replacement options, but alongside these presumably "safe" options I am consistently seeing options that are listed as "Non-Original Replacements" that are at times less than half of the price of the "Original Replacement" parts.

So, after this longwinded explanation, my question is rather simple: are these to be trusted? I'm not familiar with "Valeo" or some of these other manufacturer names, but the appeal of a clutch cover for $67 is certainly intriguing when the option from Japan is $219. That being said, most of these also tend to ship from the UAE facility which I have heard has issues at times either shipping or delivering items...

The clutch and the cover cross to the Pajero/Montero... I'm certain you could find top quality parts more locally and more economically.
