Another side exhaust complete!

Probably the best thing Ive done to the van. Noticeable power increase in the low - mid range

I really tested it today going to a surf spot that makes me drive mountain roads to get there. It really pulled up the mountain like it never has before, my temp gauge read slightly lower as well.

It’s amazing how restrictive the stock exhaust is. Also mine was rattling like crazy.

It’s not that much louder than stock either. Sounds like a Diesel should. You can definitely hear the turbo whistle more which sounds great too.

How much was everything? looking to do this too and im in the east bay

They quoted around $425 for full stainless or $300 for aluminized steel. (Muffler is stainless)

I was going to go stainless but went for the aluminized. They said most of their exhausts use aluminized steel and only go for the stainless if I really want stainless and my mind was set.

They’re great guys! Took about 2-3 hours.

nice thats not bad at all. theres a vw shop in livermore and they told me a stainless straight pipe was going to cost around 700-900. Knew it sounded high but maybe they are thinking a way higher quality steel

Just did this at a shop in SLC. Thanks for the photos, really helped communicate what I wanted to the shop.

Same results as you, noticeably more power, lower temps and way better sounding!

Hello all, What is the difference between having a side exhaust as opposed to a rear exhaust? Is there a benefit or is it just for the looks? Thanks

Any recommendations for a custom shop in Seattle? I don’t mind getting the Delicaworks three-bolt, but saving a bunch of cash would be ideal.

No specific recommendations but try to find an old timer who’s got a lot of experience and own their shop. I paid 215$ for mine, and they did a fabulous job

Brody’s in Lynwood.

Never got to go up there and talk with them but they came recommended from a buddy of mine. I kept dragging my feet then moved.

Ended up going full custom in Watsonville CA. Turbo to rear exit. Set me back $750 just using standard treated tubing. Not shiny stainless.

You can also reach out to @13mclean and see if he’s got any on hand. He and a friend were welding some up locally.
