Any Georgia (Atlanta specifically) owners on here?

Where/who are you looking to buy from?
I’m in early stages of looking to buy. I’m kind of all over the place. Looking at HiAce, L300, L400. Leaning towards the L400 for my family of 5.

ATL JDM is pretty convenient being somewhat close (live in the city). Duncan is another “close” option. Of course the ones I’m interested in are on the other side of the country.

Just joined this forum and stoked to see some Atlanta folks on it. Just sent my final payment in for a 94 GLX. Any suggestions or tips on registering in Georgia? I’ve seen a couple with Ga tags so I wasn’t sweating it while searching for one, but I’ll admit that I’ve been a bit ignorant to it until now.

It took some convincing at the DMV that my Export Certificate was the “title”. Being that it doesn’t explicitly say Title on it really hung them up for a while, I asked for the supervisor so I could explain because the clerk was stuck on repeat “we must have a title”, I reply “we do” *holding the export certificate she refused to touch, and her response “that says certificate”.
Just be familiarized with the process. Be sure to get your VIN verification done before going to the DMV. They will need that. I can’t remember the form number but a google search should get you to it.
You go see an officer for them to inspect the VIN and then run it to verify its not stolen...which is funny because our VIN won’t be recognized anyway but...either way...dmv will need that form.

Hey everyone. I'm looking to buy an L300 and have a few I'm eying around the country. I've been reading all I can and watching every video, but I've never seen one of these in person so that makes me a bit nervous. Is there anyone in the Atlanta area that would be willing to show off their van from a safe distance in the Covid era? It would be nice to see what I'm getting in to before buying a vehicle off the internet. Other than that I look forward to joining the Atlanta Delica crowd in the near future.

I’m in the Decatur area. I wouldn’t mind showing you around and giving my thoughts on what it means to own one.

That would be awesome! I’m pretty open on Saturday and could probably even make it by today if needed. Let me know what works best for you. Thanks!

So what shop do people use in the Atlanta area for these? Figured I might as well start researching that since I'm close to buying one.

I’m out in the Gwinnett area and the owner of Auburn Automotive in Auburn, Ga who swapped out my engine in my daily driver JUST SO HAPPENED to have worked for Mitsubishi and on their diesel engines for about 20 years. He’s stoked to do any routine maintenance I’m not comfortable doing myself. I’ve only had it since January, but he was able to give it a pretty thorough inspection and saved me a ton of time and money. might not be worth the drive OTP, but there ya go!

That’s good to know! I’m right by Spaghetti Junction so that’s not too far of a drive. Especially if the place is good. People seem to like them on Yelp as well, and those people usually hate everything. Haha.

Sorry I haven’t had time to give you a walk around yet, things got crazy busy for a while around here. Shoot me a dm with your # and we can sort out a time.
Also if you need another mechanic aside from the previous mentioned feel free to give me a shout. I was a Honda/Acura tech for many years, then service writer. Now I’m an aircraft mechanic working on big commercial jets. Grew up working on my family’s farm equipment (diesel), started stick welding at 12. Have built race engines, built out several land cruisers, fabricated steel bumpers, made roof racks, etc...oil changes, axle rebuilds, rebuilt engines, everything in between. Haven’t used a shop or mechanic my whole life and friends and family use me as their guy. If covid destroys the airline industry with lay offs I’ll likely be opening a shop, but till’ or if that day ever comes it still remains my hobby, I really enjoy it.

Hey I talked with the guy at Aurburn, who was very nice, and he said he changed your timing belt for you. What brand did you end up going with?
