Anyone have a bike rack?

i welded a 2" receiver into my front bars. that rack is kuat sherpa, which i don't recommend. gotta put the kids bikes up front otherwise a normal bike will block the whole windshield. ha.

FYI the 1up is a beautiful rack. Gorgeous piece of hardware. Works perfectly. It's solid and holds the bikes solid. Hardly any movement. The only issue is I got 2 add ons, so 4 bikes total. In this setup you need really long arms to reach the adjustment lever. My wife can't do it.

Argh. Yeah, I'm kinda back to square one. I tried a spare tire mount rack on my swing away rear tire, but the bikes bounce like fucking crazy with the weight so far from the swing out's mounting points on the frame. No hitch right now, either. Front won't work, and I don't fancy carrying a bike to the top of the van. Hmm..

Luker63, close-up photo of where the welds were made would be super helpful.

@helladeli - No photos, sorry. I'd put it on and shoot one for you, but it's not possible anymore.

I don't think any trunk rack would fit, but most that would fit a van will fit a Delica. It just has to be able to open wide enough to make contact with the rear of the van with a wide enough stance. So, one designed for a trunk might only open to an acute or 90 degree angle that wouldn't work for you. Most of the good brands have a fitment guide that lists the vehicles that are compatible with their piece - just search for one that will fit a Vanogan/Eurovan and you're set.

I went with the Thule XT-2.

It would be too easy if a Montero hitch fit on the Delica's ya? Has anyone looked into this? I'm going to take some measurements today and see whats what..

If you have access to a Monty hitch and can spec it out, yeah! Let us know what you find out.

FTS is on holiday at the moment, they responded to my email on the topic of a hitch by telling me that they were at least a month out. That's okay, while they're fabricating new ones I'll spend some time deciding which snorkel I'm going to have shipped along with the hitch.

I'm currently trying to find a Montero around town I can stick my head under and take a look, ideally without getting run over..

Yes I'm in the same boat they told me a month out. Do they have multiple snorkels to chose from? is it just the overland style and the flush kit? I just installed a overland style on my Deli and I love it. Looks and increased performance as well!

Hi there,
I found this conversation very useful and neither Fiamma or Thule have specific bike racks for Delica (I just got 2005 High roof Spacegear from Japan to Australia). I was wondering if any of you can suggest a model of either of these brands (not many other brands in Australia) that would mount on the back door (cannot be a roof rack or towbar).
Thanks in advance
Alex

any update on this? I'm looking for a 3-4 bike rack and curious how this one worked for you

1up makes small ones too. All the way down to a 1 bike for a small hitch. I have a 2 bike on my Mustang. Very manageable. The 4 bike is a beast.

Also it folds up quite well for storage when off the car. None of the other ones I had did that.

Thule 973 is a pretty nice, beefy clamp-on bike rack model that can be expanded from 2-4 bikes with add-on accessories. They can be difficult to get in the US though. It is big enough that it avoids putting pressure on the back windshield. IMO, a hitch is ultimately the most adaptable and has multi uses/carrying options.
