Best Battery Replacement for 95 L400 Space Gear, Petrol

@stevenlee Thanks for the picture and suggestion. And thanks in advance @Knabors for checking! Are all 27 batteries a standard size across all brands? I usually just get Everstart from Walmart because of their 3 year warranty. Any other suggestions on trusted brands?

I know you are running a gasser but Optima batteries have always served me well. Since I have a 2.8L TD it’s nice to have the extra CCA on those cold days. I run a dual battery setup in my van, but in your gasser I think an Optima is still a good options, plus thier size is smaller than most of the larger batteries you get at main retailers. The price point is usually quite different though. Here’s a pic to show what I’m running in my 2.8L TD.

Hope you find a good solution!

Any off roading dictates a sealed battery system unless you're willing to continually clean up w baking soda and water.

A maintenance free sealed top or secondly an optima type is preferable.. You may be able to order an Optima look a like out of China if you budget dictates.

I still clean up with baking soda and oil the hold down bracket/terminals as needed.

Enjoy your gasser
Merry Christmas

@stevenlee So the size 27 battery was way too big for the existing battery tray. The existing batteries that were installed in my rig were 2 80d24r batteries (from japan). Just imported the rig in October so this is it's first stateside winter. I took measurements and the ones that I found that fit the best in the existing battery tray were size 34 batteries. I got a pair of Everstart Maxx's ($149 each) they are 800 CCA. We'll see how they last long term. I'm sure optima would have been a better choice but maybe I'll go with those once these die. I just measured the existing battery since they didn't sell it state side, and cross referenced it with a US spec size chart...

@StarSheepSpaceGear They fit pretty good (not perfect) but the battery clamp solved that, and now it starts up no issues with the cold weather!

So wait, what was the conclusion here, size 24 for the dual battery setup? I can't seem to find size 24-6 when I google.
My current dual batteries are mis-sized, they work, but are not correct.

I ended up using two size 36 everstart Maxx’s from Walmart. Have had them in my rig for over a year and they did great this last winter! Have even taken them off-roading and they don’t move around much.
