Captain's Chair Wobble Fix

I fixed one of my middle-row captain’s chairs that was a bit wobbly. I followed directions found on the Mitsubishi Delica Owners Club UK thread here:

Thanks to Mark and Bruce on that forum!

The photos have disappeared from that thread, so I duplicate their instructions below, and supply my own photos showing the locations of the bolts and clips.

The numbers in my photos correspond to the step numbers below.

In my last photo, for steps 8-12, you can see the shiny washers I inserted. Note that they go above BOTH stamped steel brackets (not between them)… and by above, I mean in the normal orientation of the seat. Also I’m only showing 2 of the 4 bolts here, the other 2 are on the other side, similar bracket.
  1. start by undoing the four 14mm nuts that hold the seat to the runners on the floor of the Delica
  2. then remove the seat from the Delica [take great care as the seats do weight quite a lot]
  3. next lay the seat on its back so you can access the seat base and undo the four 12mm nuts that hold the metal base to the seat
  4. if you now look down the side of the seat you will see two 14mm bolts that hold the seat back to the base remove these
  5. now get some pliers and remove the R pin clip from the release linkage
  6. and remove the R pin clip that is just below were you have taken out the last one
  7. you can now with care pull the seat base down away from the seat
  8. you will now see four bolts around the outside edge of the center turn plate on mine they were 5mm Allen key bolts but on Bruce’s Japanese copies they look like 12mm bolts
  9. slacken off two bolts on one side but do not remove the bolts yet
  10. remove one of the two loose bolts
  11. then you need to lever up the plate that the bolts go through and place a washer under it in the place where you have removed the bolt
  12. then refit the bolt loosely and remove the other bolt and repeat with the washer you can now do up the two bolts that side and repeat the process on the other side of the turn plate you can now in reverse order put the seat back together and refit it to the Delica
