Hey Delica parents of young children,

I'm curious where you're putting the carseat in the Delica? The captains seat belts are no good since they don't lock, and the rear bench seat is a bit of a climb and hassle. Thought about welding up a custom mount but geez. I have a 9 month old and I've already grown weary of always taking the Subaru.

Ive got 4 car seats in mine currently. Biggest kids go on the reach bench on front facing seats, smaller kids go in the captains in front facing seats but then I rotate the captains chairs to face backwards. With the captains chairs rotated around and slid all the way up, there is actually a good amount of room to jump in and being able to rotate the captains seat to face the door makes it so easy to pop a kid in, buckle them in, then rotate the seat into place.

Love it! Do you have the 3 point seatbelts on the captain's seat? Mine are just the lap belt and don't lock at all so the carseat doesn't feel like it's actually being held down at all.

I have the lap belt go through the car seat then the car seat has a "rear tether" that is supposed to go over the back of the seat. So I have that go up, through the headrest and down the back of the seat then clip to a bolt under the seat. That keeps the seat moving forward and keeps everything pretty secure. Finding a rear latch point for the bench seat is a bit more difficult.

They do "lock"... it's just... weird... and not really.. correct... You can see buddies seat mount in the far seat. Pull the belt out 2/3 as far as you need it to be.. now pull fast and smack the seat back with your hand at the same time. The belts use an inertia lock so you need to "simulate" a cash. The belt should lock and you should be able to force it into its latch. You can see the belt is pulled very tight in the photo. If the belt is loose it could unlatch and free spin again letting the car seat move. Not that I am recommending doing it this way...

I was adding a CNC cut bracket to the lower seat mounts with some certified straps... but for now the van engine is scattered all over the road so it doesn't really matter anyways.

I was looking on the Canadian forum and came across an expert. I personally put an anchordown on the back nut to hold the car seat from moving forward. The expert did not like any modifications he said the car seat should go in the passenger seat as it has the shoulder belt and no airbag. I wonder what the Japanese did pre 1992?
