This past couple of weeks the delica got to go on a trip! Drove from the sierra nevadas to green river UT for first stop at campsite on the way to canon city CO and it did great going up and over monarch pass in the Rockies.
We decided to go home the long way… here we journey from eastern side of the Rockies and went through Taos NM to Santa Fe
No trip to Santa Fe is complete without stopping at Meow Wolf. The delica “might” have been the weirdest vehicle in the parking lot.
Continue through the southwest old hwy66 into Arizona and enjoyed the petrified forest.
Desert has been cloudy the whole time!
After leaving the petrified forest the clouds burst and poured a hard rain through to flagstaff AZ.
Drove down the canyon and enjoyed Sedona, too bad the sun came out now it was getting hot of course!
After leaving Arizona we headed home through Boulder City NV and got through Las Vegas with only one major highway shitdown. Continued north through the Nevada desert and all was beautiful!
The delica truly did great. Never got over 1200*F and although it was slow on some hills, conscious driving made the drive reliable. I was worried about cooling and the new Worley aluminum radiator performed well although the clouds and rain probably were the best desert cooling upgrade! I also had an alternator go out just before the trip and the “new” one I got in the Knick of time ran hot and made a weird set of noises the first bit, but I believe that the brushes seated in and all is well.
Adventure on!
