Flat leaf springs!?

I went to install my new Rancho shocks this morning. Fronts were super easy, but when I went to put the rears on the compressed shock just barely fit.

I then noticed the springs were flat, no arc at all. This is on jack stands with wheels off.

The min length on my Ranchos are about 1” longer than stock but so are the pro-comps everyone uses so I’m assuming I need to get my leaf springs re-arched.

I ended up keeping the stock rears on for now.

By looking at the photo do my leaf springs look shot? I don’t have experience with leaf springs but there should be some arc right?

Those look too flat to me. Cheapest answer is probably to get them re-arched.

Yeah sort of a bummer, will give shops a call on Tuesday for pricing.

I didn't think I was sitting too low but maybe I am? From center of hub to top of wheel arch my rears are around 49cm or 19.5".

Looking around stock height should be more like 52cm +/-

If I do get these re-arched I should probably have the rear spring bushings (4 per side) replaced too. I can get those for $3 each or PU for around $6 each. Probably makes sense to get the PU?

Where are you sourcing these? Have a Part Number?

Those are definitely tired. A good spring shop can put in new bushings as well as arch them, all in one shot.

Im now having an issue with my front end and new Rancho 9k shocks. They're bottoming out. I'm assuming I need to crank my torsion bars and lift the front end since these shocks have a longer compressed length than OEM.

The thing is I can't raise the front until my rear springs are fixed and the ride height lifted a bit.

Is there any other explanation why they'd bottom out? Any body else have this issue? Should I put the stock shocks back on until I can get the rear sorted? I don't want to ruin the shocks.

You need to *either* crank/re-index the torsion bars OR lift the front... but if the new shocks are over-length it's probably the lift...

Yeah not ready to do a proper lift on this yet. I thought the shocks I got were for a non lifted rig but looks like I may be wrong.

I "think" cranking the torsions and getting taller bump stops on the lower arm may do the trick.

Just got off the phone with a couple spring shops. They said they'll both need to do an inspection but roughly $6-700 to re-arch the rears and another $300+/- if I wanted to add a leaf for one shop and the other said around $4-500 to re-arch and add a leaf. Quite the difference in pricing.

Jeeze, that's a bit more than I was expecting... You might consider a DIY add-a-leaf kit instead, but if you raise the rear much you have to mess with drive angles (shafts/etc).
