Good Experience Registering in Seattle, Washington

I just wanted to give a shout out to the Esta over at Ballard Auto Vessel Licensing Agency. I walked in at 5:50 with my new bill of sale from BC and she had me out the door in no time with my new tabs. If you are in the Seattle area, I recommend heading over there. Call ahead to she if she is working. If not ask for Fred the owner. Let him know what you need and let him sort it out if anyone can help you out. I didn't expect things to go through as easy as they did. Naturally I am happy and wanted to just let everyone know where they can hit.

Cheers,

I don't remember what the woman's name was who helped me there, but my experience was quick and easy, too. (Ours is the one near Commons Park if you're in the area.)

Right on.. Are you the van on the north side of the skate bowl? I am over there all the time.
I'm across from lower woodland elementary. Van is tucked in the driveway/lot. I will keep an eye out for you.

Yep, that's us! Parking near the street until we get the roof box back to the folks we borrowed from. Just finished a 2 month, 7600 Mile road trip.

Anyone have good experiences registering in Seattle/Bellevue someplace other then Ballard Licensing? Went there today and clearly did not get Fred or Esta.

They refused to register me because the Delica wasn’t in their system (I mean of course it isn’t in their system being a ‘93 JDM import). She said I needed to get a declaration of value from a Mitsubishi dealer. I vocalized my doubt that a modern American Mitsubishi dealer would have any idea the value and sure enough when I called a dealer they had no clue. Then she suggested I take it to someone who does vehicle appraisals. She refused to get the value from the bill of sale saying it needs to be a state approved source of value.

Anyone had any luck registering other places? Otherwise back to Ballard and just hide behind a plant until that lady goes on break.

I had mine done downtown. The lady there wasn’t sure how to go about it at first, but was super cheery and persistent. Wish I could remember her name. She looked up pictures of our vans during the process and then exclaimed “I am obsessed with these now!”

Try and get it appraised by one of the RHD importers in the area. I think that is who the person who sold me my van went to.

they might appraise it for a lot more than @Moniemow paid for it though and then they would have to pay taxes on that and not what they actually paid. Since run down delicas are still being sold for 14k+ here in the states. so i would just go in and hope you get someone who knows or doesn't care and just says ok ill just say its worth what you paid. thats what happened with me.

Happy ending to the saga.

Had Sodo Moto do an appraisal for $75. Gave Adam all the info about the van over email then picked up the appraisal the next day. Took that back to Ballard Licensing and the clerk seemed perfectly satisfied. She is now legal with plates. Hooray!

My dealer valued mine at $5000 which was fine, they wrote it on a letter head and the licensing place took it. It only cost me a bottle of vodka for the GM who appraised it (our dealership is not of the best quality people)
