Hyundai Parts for L300s

Because the Hyundai D4BF (and other D4B engine castings) are based on, and virtually identical to the 4D56, a lot of parts are interchangeable. There are some differences though, so this thread is an attempt to specify what part numbers will work, especially as OEM Mitsubishi stuff gets harder to source.

I'd appreciate if anyone has specific info/model numbers to list them so we can aggregate this info.

I'm also going to dig up D4BF engine diagrams and parts lists to try to clarify what's what.

So far, what I have for my late year '93 high roof P35W (and FYI, there were a few changes to the vans around mid-'93 like a water cooled turbo, that earlier models don't have, so that complicates matters a bit.)

Hyundai Parts with model numbers:

* Balance Belt tensioner 23357 42030
* Balance Belt (late model L300) 23356 42500
* Timing belt tensioner 24317 42020
* Water Pump 25100 42001
* Water Pump gasket 25124 42060

Likely fitter
* Valve Cover Gasket 22441 42000

This is a parts diagrams for a 94 H100, which does share some components with our vans, but I'm realizing that there are zillions of regional variants on these vehicles, so not sure how useful this would actually be for us.

The actual address is here, but doesn't resolve when cut and pasted:

This is the same, just on SpareKorea; works like EPC/Amayama.

Yo Team. I am going to be replacing the rocker assembly (shaft, arms, springs) for my 89' 4D56T. See "My Balance Belt Broke" post.

My assembly has been inspected and seems good however, I was cautioned to just go ahead and replace, so I will. I go deep, not worth an unexpected failure.

Here is the list of what I've come up with from SpareKorea. They have the rocker shaft and exhaust rocker arms in stock. The intake is out as are the springs.

Hyundai Parts ----> JDM PARTS

I know there were some changes in very late model Japan parts but it seems that up to 99' they were all the same.

Would the Hyundai parts work? They have a few different part numbers each. Its hard to know what changed, and how is different?

Thanks!

The Hyundai 22100-42700 head is sold as a replacement for both the Hyundai and Mitsubishi 2.5D motors... (other part numbers also cross to the later engines ('99+). But I have no real idea about individual components... I can't think of any reason they shouldn't work.

Hi,

is it really possible to exchange the hynndai 22mm torsion bars 1:1 on a L300 4WD SWB?
I read on a German forum that the ones from Hyndai are 30 mm longer? Or just the ones from Starex?

Kind regards

Yes, using the bars from the H100/Porter... many of us have them installed. It's quite possible the ones for the Starex are longer, they have different part numbers.

75A Alternator 3730042750, should fit up to mid '93 L300's. Would need pivot drilled to 10mm for later models.

I know that the timing belts changed with the move to recessed valve and a different style of teeth on the sprockets, but does anyone know if the tensioners are interchangeable with both early and late 4D56 engines, or are they specific also?

Pretty easy to determine with a generic EPC search (remove chassis #). For the timing belt tensioner it returns a single part # for all model years.

Over here in the Philippines, the Hyundai Grace is virtually identical to the Delica, also in LHD although the Delica retains its Sliding door on the left hand side (when facing forwards) whilst the Grace has the sliding door on the right hand side. I am yet to see a 4WD version of the Grace - Delicas over here in 2WD have five wheel nuts and the 4WD have six - so easy to distinguish.

I have some oil filters (Hyundai/KIA 263304A001) that I received from sparekorea (they were a good deal while ordering another part, and appeared to be the correct part #). I'm wondering if I made a mistake ...

263304A001 crosses with 2630042010 (via partsouq), but MD069782 only crosses with 2630042010 via partsouq. On sparekorea searching for 2630042010 results in 263304A001 which led me to purchasing these filters ...

They appear to be a bit smaller than the WIX 51067 that I usually use (OEM as per my 1992 van = MD069782). I suspect they might work totally fine (threaded area looks same), but the rubber gasket appears to be a smaller outside diameter and the actual filter body dimension are: Wix is 11.5mm taller (103.51mm OD), hyundai 95.03mm OD.

Edit: No leaks or other issues ~4,000km later.
