L300 Auto trans indicator.

My L300 auto shifts fine with the gear selector and goes though the gears fine while driving but nothing is lining up with what my gauge cluster says. So when I put it in drive the cluster says it in reverse and the back up beeper comes on. If I go past to second and back to drive it clears the beeping but the cluster says it’s in neutral.
Is there and adjustment that has slipped somewhere?

The neutral safety switch on the right side of the transmission controls the lights on the dash. It has some adjustment for syncing the lights with actual shift position.
I'm guessing the van won't start when actually in neutral?

I tried today you are correct it will not start in neutral unless I move the gear selector back and forth until the shifter matches the cluster. Hadn’t tried this before because it still starts in the park position.
