L300 Shocks Options

@Growlerbearnz uses Monroe MA708 air adjustables on the rear of his Delica...
...and @sk66, and @Kyre, and @YogaSlackerSam, and @Krazykraut, and probably more. If you sometimes do longer trips with the van full of camping gear they're great. If you never haul heavy stuff (or don't haul it far enough to care about a bit of temporary suspension sag) the extra complexity might be a liability (potential for air leaks, mainly. They still work as shocks even without air, but the airbag parts can be damaged if they don't have at least 20psi in).
Oh and don't overtighten the lower bushes.

Ok- so here's what I understand so far from others:
Fronts: 24-013369 fits and works well; while 24-013321 fits, but is listed by Bilstein for the 2wd L300
Rears: 24-013376 does not fit and is specified for 2wd; while 24-014670 is the correct number fthe rear, but is out of production and hard to find. KYB KG5494 is a recommended choice for rears.

I think this is inaccurate, "Fronts: 24-013369 fits and works well; while 24-013321 fits, but is listed by Bilstein for the 2wd L300",
From my research 24-013369 has replaced 24-013321. 24-013321 is for a 4WD delica, maybe it will fit 2WD as well, but it shows for a 4WD when looked up. I have the 24-013321 that I installed not too long ago and got them on clearance for $59.00 dollars each from Summit Racing. Summit Racing now lists part 24-013369 for the same vehicle.

Interesting. My info was from a German Ebay seller of Bilstein. That seller said that the 13321 was for 2wd would not suit a 4wd but certainly your experience overrides that!
In any event, I've ordered my fronts 013369 from Rock Auto and my rears 014670 from a different German eBay seller. They are available from several sources in Germany, so possibly they have applications there but have decided to not support the Toyota Previa in the US anymore?

Good info, thanks everyone!
@PhilE Please update us on how those 014670's fit for the rear?

The eBay seller is backordered until mid-March (frown) but this certainly suggests that the rear shock is still in production (smile). I'll update for fitment of rear shocks toward the end of April.
Rock Auto rocks. I received the front shocks today and I ordered them on the 13th. And I'm in New Zealand. And shipping was $18. They came so fast I was... (wait for it...) shocked.

@JPMust- Thanks for posting the summit info. From the photo, it looks like the big difference is that the hardware for the 0133321 comes in a grid, while the hardware for the 013369 comes in a line.

Wrap up- I was able to find a couple German Ebay sellers who still had NOS stock of the discontinued rear shocks. However I couldn't swallow the cost plus same again for shipping. Anyway, I rarely ride in the back- KYB or something will be just fine for my needs. Maybe I'll paint them yellow and blue. : 0 )

If you do paint them, you should make new stickers that say ‘Killstein’’:D

RE: Koni 30-1318 shocks, after quick search seem to be unavailable from most (all that I found ) dealers.

I'm about to order the KG5494 rears and KG5458 fronts.
How have the KG5494s treated you now that you've had them a few months?

So far so good. They get the job done, and I haven't noted any sag or had any issues with them since installing them.

Thanks for all the info and research. I am wanting to put a 2" lift kit on my 93 Delica L300 Super Exceed, But I did not want to use the Pro Comp shocks. Does anyone know what part number for the Bilstein B6 Offroad would best fit for the 2" lift kit? Thank you

I'm using an alternative air shock for the rear axle, AcDelco 504512 which is essentially a rebadged Gabriel HiJacker 49135. The air bag portion is encased in the upper part of the shock, and seems better protected than the Monroe equivalent.

A thing to note when using air shocks, you are essentially defeating the action of the load-dependent brake valve. This is potentially dangerous when compensating a loaded vehicle with the shocks, and the rear brakes not contributing to stopping the car. If you think ahead brake proportioning can be set for different road conditions by adjusting rear suspension height. I raise the rear a little higher on icy roads to prevent the rear brakes locking, and air down in the mountains to take some strain off the front brakes.

Most JDM Delicas have the G-force sensing brake valve (on the left hand side beside the gearbox) so ride height isn't much of an issue, but yes, my 4WD Van had been lifted but the proportioning valve linkage hadn't been adjusted. I never drove it but it must have been awful with weak rear brakes!

@Growlerbearnz Hey there, what would be the best shocks and coils to get for a 5 inch lift? Any idea?

Thanks!
No idea at all, though "coils" suggests you have an L400 which is even further out of my zone.
A 5" suspension lift isn't possible on an L300, the suspension just doesn't move that far, but a "body lift" (subframe spacers) will give you the look of a 5" lift, without the extra ground clearance of a true 5" lift.

This beast was imported to Virginia a few years ago, initially sold but has since been for sale for ever, probably because it's not street legal here. Huge investment in time and effort for a weird 'show' car, but not actually very practical or much of an improvement in clearance.
