Parts for sale Rules

We've received some complaints about some seller behaviour here and it's time to implement some rules. If we are missing anything please comment here and we'll add them.
  1. All Part Sales Listings must be limited to this forum, do not solicit users in private, do not advertise outside this sub forum.
  2. Parts must be accurately described, with photos.
  3. All items must have a price listed, requests to "PM for price", are not allowed.
  4. Payments must be collected in a traceable and ethical way. Use of PayPal "friends and family" from frequent sellers to avoid buyer protection or other misleading behaviour is prohibited.
  5. New Sellers may be asked to provide admins a business registration or other personal details if fraud is suspected.
  6. Consistent Complaints and/or Violation of these rules will result in a permanent ban from DelicaForum.com.
  7. Be nice

I've heard of horror stories regarding paypal, where sellers have been caught out by buyers "double dipping". It's not occurred here (thankfully) but I've used paypal through friends and family but still ensured I've safely dispatched items, provided tracking numbers and insurance where possible.

I admin a large automotive buy and sell group and because paypal is independant, they've not taken onboard feedback regarding a dispute between 2 parties. Is there any alternative to the paypal rule as I'm based abroad and don't have a US bank account but want to offer parts to international buyers?

I still want to offer peace of mind and have safely shipped numerous items abroad (and would love to continue doing so). Any ideas on other options?

Does the third rule apply to whole vans which are being parted out? I'd like to post my first L300 (with pictures) which was totaled and just have people make requests. I'm just wondering if I have to go through all the parts on it and figure out prices for each part before I post it? That would be pretty time-consuming because I'll sell anything from it except for the engine.

What we are wanting to eliminate is people being taken advantage of "behind the scenes." We also don't want pricing to be "tell me what it's worth to you" in order to manipulate the buyer and get the most possible.

If you put it up as "tell me what you need and I'll get a price" it would not violate the rule... just ask a definitive (realistic?) price and add it to the thread. We've had a few posts like that...

Question: I posted a thread looking for a delica part (glass). I got a number of replies with email addresses of people claiming to have the item im looking for. Payment, however is requested Paypal Friends and Family only (which means no protection for the buyer if item was shipped). do you have knowledge of fraud using this approach? I have been exchanging many emails with the seller, but still hard to tell... any advise greatly appreciated

Using Paypal's Friends & Family payment is like handing someone cash. But in this case you've got no idea who you handed it to. So in general if someone insists on you using it I'd see that as a red flag. Using the "Paying for goods or services" option gives you an avenue to repeal the payment / give you an avenue to get your money back if it's a scam. A trustworthy seller would just ask you to pay the paypal fee as well. They shouldn't care if you do it that way.

AVOID!
If they have not been a member here for some time, and with a history of forum participation; it is almost certainly a scam.
Responding to parts wanted posts and requiring unprotected payment is a common scam.
