Scam alert!

The scammers are back with a new angle!
"I bought my (name_of_part_you_want) from (Username_of_popular_forum-user). You should contact them on (scammers_email_at_email.com)"

If you're asked to get in touch with another forum user, I suggest making contact through the Forum's conversation/PM first.
If someone sends you a PM asking you to email someone else, please report it so we can get the banhammer out.

Also, only a psychopath would post someone else'e email address on a public forum.

This happened to me the other day. I guess I was so excited to finally be getting a part I've been searching for for so long that I didn't stop to think what was going on. In the end, it was a cheap lesson learned.

Someone even tried this morning. I asked them for an image of the part sitting on a piece of paper with today's date on it. Haven't heard back from them. Hmm, wonder why?

It appears the Parts Wanted section of the Forum is being trolled by scammers.

I made the mistake of mentioning I was looking for an armrest on FB page. Every 3 weeks or so I get a message from someone "who has exactly what I am looking for". Yeah, asking for a picture of the actual part results in crickets or something like "I will send you a picture before I ship the part" oh ok, well let me send that money right away....o_O

Just wanted to chime in and say that they tried to get me as well.

Make sure you get them to post a picture with something unique in it like the date or a number you just made up.

Tineye is great for seeing if they used someone elses images.

Ignore DMs and new accounts. If someone really wants to sell you something they can reply to your thread.

Sadly I can vouch for this too. A guy texted me (yes I offered my phone number to someone on a public thread) claiming he had sliding windows for sale. Sent me photos and seemed legit. Paid half up front, never got em. Number disconnected. Thought it would be so weird to try and find a way to scale people on such an obscure thing.

So be careful out there.

Getting a private message every day for my headrest post asking me to email someone. Scammers are trash.

Just happened to me yesterday, looking for a front diff.

I had the same person reach out to me a week or so ago (Lukerichard63) if my memory serves me. I can't find the conversation now, presumably because they were banned (thank you mods).

I got another one a couple hours ago:
