I wanted a roof rack. Bad. I asked everyone. I asked people in Canada, USA, Japan, Australia, and even Russia! I went as far as to have one in Russia made, only to be mislead on shipping costs. I was growing very frustrated, as a lot of people were telling me they could get me the rack that I was looking for, only to be completely full of crap. So I decided to just go to the source and omit the useless middle men (you guys know who you are!)

Let me make a long story short here - you can't just order 3 large packages from Taiwan. It takes time. Lots of time. Shipping Brokers, Customs Brokers, Stuffers, Unstuffers, Couriers, and then finally you receive it. This I did not know when I first ordered mine! I learned ALOT about shipping overseas via LCL (sea container freight).

Basically, if you want something badly enough, you figure out how to get it.

So the original rack-touting jockeys were threatening to sell me a roof rack for over a thousand dollars USED. Furthermore, I would have to pay shipping and that would be an extra $500 or so. This is where I decided to go to the source. I contacted FTS in Taiwan; a company known for snorkels, revolver shackles, and other really cool shit for the Delica among other vehicles. They offered me a complete stainless steel rack and ladder, along with a tow hitch for a killer deal shipped to Miami. What I did not know at the time was that it was going to come via container ship. A process that involves a lot of paperwork....

So over two months and a lot of phone calls later, my packages were available for pickup in Miami. Yesterday I went to retrieve them. See below for the pictures.

This rack looks awesome. How much did it end up costing? Do you think FTS would be willing to do it again for another customer? (me!) Thanks.

FTS Sells to the public. However, you need a shipping bond to get the rack as it must come container freight from Taiwan. If you are interested in buying one I can get you one. PM me! Also, Welcome to the forum!
