Towing Weight

I have Delica Spacegear 2002, Petrol, 3.0L, 4WD, Auto.
I need to know what the max towing capacity is for my Mitsubishi. Searched all over cannot find definitive answer anywhere on WEB.
I tow a caravan with it.
I want to try to start towing RHIBS with Motor attached, that belong to my SCUBA Diving club.
My driving Lic in U.K. allows me to tow Max Loaded Combined weight of 8250kg.
I know that this is far greater than the capacity of the van.
The RHIB trailers are plated at 2000kg.
Please help???
Thanks,
Errol Simpson.

Anybody have a reply for me for my message above??? I have not had any replies or info with any detailed, specific, towing weights, other than being told to go ahead it will handle the weight. i cannot afford to put undue strain on my drive train or chassis or damage them since I am not a mechanic and the repiar costs could be unreal. I am also retired so cannot afford great repair costs. Therefore a ccurate knowledgeable info for this question is important for me. Thanks, Errol Simpson.

Japanese manufacturers don't specify a Gross Train Weight (aka combined weight) for vehicles intended for the Japanese domestic market.

In the UK that means if your VIN plate doesn't list a train weight, it can't legally be used or towing (or maybe your train weight must not exceed the vehicle's GVM; sources are unclear on that one).

Unless you can convince Mitsubishi Japan to go on the record with a GTW, the best you're going to get is "it'll handle the weight".

This thread discusses tow ratings for the L400, and seems to represent this forum's wisdom, which is mostly relevant to the US.
A Google search turns up This question on HonestJohn about tow limits, and the answer is "an L400 is basically a Shogun with a van body on top" which is reasonable, as long as you're only concerned about the drivetrain. Chassis strength/towbar attachment points are different as the Shogun of the period has a separate chassis. A 3.0 V6 Auto Shogun is rated to 2800kg (braked) or 750kg (unbraked).

Thank you very much for this info. It is most helpful in helping me to decide about towing both my caravan which I currently tow with the van and whether i am going to risk towing the Diving Club boat trailer, (Probably Not).
