v4aw2 transmission rebuild kit

Hey all, anyone had any luck tracking down a rebuild kit for the V4aw2 transmission, i am planning on installing a vgt turbo of a newer l200 so this will dramatically increase the torque output so before i blow my transmission ( has145k on it) any assistance in tracking down a master kit for this transmission would be appreciated, Thanks!

I'll be interested to see if this works... especially since you can also use it for engine braking (no bypass/wastegate). You'll need to add water cooling and make a custom exhaust, but I imagine you already know that.

But I'm not sure how well it will work on an earlier 4D56 with fully mechanical injection pump and alternator mounted vacuum pump. I'm guessing it's only fitted to late model engines that use electronic fuel control, ECU/monitoring, vacuum control, etc.

I'm not saying it won't work; it's not one of my stronger areas of knowledge... but I can't believe it's not a more common approach if it is actually that simple.

to control it i intend on using this for now, https://gfb.com.au/products/boost-c...d-effective-boost-control-for-vnt-vgt-turbos/

very simple and straightforward, also with the fact that it is a simple mechanical pump adding fuel is very simple, i will be grinding the boost compensator or buying one for a defender to help with fuel delivery at low rpm but high boost situations, i'll see how it turns out.

upgrading the intercooler will be done at the same time, currently trying to source a suitably sized core

There's two versions of the A42DL; early models (pre-90) use wave style friction plates and later versions use flat friction plates. I don't know how that relates to the version in the L300...

wave plate give a softer clutch engagement while the flat friction plates give a firmer engagement, depends on what you want. building th400's we always used flat if we were looking to hold more torque

Ok, but if you just order a generic kit, which are you getting?

I'm curious how this is going for you. The idea of an almost drop in VGT sounds awesome. An inexpensive transmission rebuild kit also sounds great. Lol
