What is the recommended Auto Transmission fluid?

My A/T is looking pretty brown (not burnt smelling) and I think it is time to change it. The manual says to use Dexron 2 which I read was replaced by Dexron 6.
Any recommendations on a good type/brand?

The auto transmission is an Aisin Warner AW72L and it *requires* a 3309 compatible oil...

So does Castrol Transmax... one clue is that it lists as suitable for Volvo 5/6 spd transmissions, or Toyota T-IV

True, and it may cost less to boot. I've been using RP since my last major transaxle rebuild on a VW (per Daryl from AA Transaxle's advice) and it seems to last longer and keep things cooler (had a probe on that van). YMMV

In any case, how much are you ordering at a time. I've been unable to look this up or find it for a full flush.
The manual says the total capacity is 7.2 US qts...
I was going to do a full oil flush/change, but now I'm thinking I'll just drain/refill the pan.
