Hello all,

Pretty new here and to forums in general. Have been looking at the Delicas for a while and finally found one that looks clean and is a reasonable deal. I have some questions that I can't seem to find any legit info online on. Perhaps some of you can help. This vehicle is on 145,000km.

Technical
- Generally what are the common issues that the V6 3L 6G72 engine and accompanying transmission experience?
- What are the other none drivetrain general issues that I should be looking out for?
- What are the big service milestones for parts generally? Radiator, Cooling, Other
- What are the smaller service milestones for parts? Fuel Filter, Air Filter, Oil Filter
- Really struggling with the lack of good information about the Gas V6 model!

Non Technical
- What trim is this? I don't understand the difference between space gear/star wagon/chamonix etc
- Why doesn't model this come with the inclinometer extra dash panel?

Nice looking gasser.
Problems are few. Your mileage is a bit high but is still a great vehicle. Think about undercoating to keep the body rust down. If it's already rusty then you decide if it'd worth undercoating. I wish I'd of done mine at 30K kms when I imported it.

Change all the fluids when you buy. Fill the front diff from the top in the engine compartment with a clear plastic hose. Lots easier. The others are easy to fill.

Brakes have been my biggest problem on all my delicas, maybe you'll be luckier. Rotors are proprietary and need be bought from a delica dealer. The pistons seize up in the front calipers and warp the rotors.

Were the belts changed at 100K kms? If DYI look to Rockauto for one of their sets. Much cheaper than from local dealers. Don't change the water pump unless it's leaking. They last forever.

Look for the drivers side cam shaft leak, rear of the engine. This needs the engine dropped out for repair. It's a pita but can be done dyi'r.

Change trans fluid to synthetic and check to ensure you have the correct trans fluid level. Don't listen to the local dealers. It's a great transmission. But I'd check before I bought it, full brake and high throttle to notice if the transmision slips.

Lube the drive shaft (s) u joints when you rotate the tires.

If you raise the delica expect to change lots of front end parts.

Don't change anything you don't have to. The parts are expensive. Change the fluids regularly instead of looking to change parts.

Examine the air filter when you change the oil and filter. Dusty road travel will require a new air filter regularly.

Spark plugs and wiring changes are a PITA. Lots of intake manifold parts to remove before you get to the plugs and wires. Most of the wiring replacement kits are too short a wire. Take a wire when you buy to ensure the proper length. The oem plugs and wires were installed to last an eternity so don't look to change them unless you have to. The plugs threads are touchy and can be stripped easily.

Delica wiring and manuals for your model are not easily available. Sift through Google and google again, eventually you'll find it. Join the forums world wide. Look at Mega zip and amayama for parts breakdowns, you'll learn a lot.

Your model is basic and better that way unless you're into extras. In the long run you'll be happier. Delicas were sold with lots of options, your owner didn't want the inclinometer pack.

Message me if you want more. I'm in Coquitlam BC. Sounds like you're local.
