4D56 Hard start issues

Hi All.

Every morning, the first start of the day my yr2000 L300 turbodiesel 4D56 takes about 4 - 6 tried to fully turn over. However this only happens once, at the beginning of the day. Each time I start my engine after I have zero issues and turn over on the first try, even if this is hours later.

I thought my fuel pressure was wonky so I just bled the fuel pump, hoping to remove any trapped air, but the issue still exists.

Anyone else have hard start issues or insight?

Thanks in advance !

^What they say, though @Helibrian has a point about the Injection Pump losing its prime. As a quick diagnostic, try pumping the fuel filter primer pump a few times (until it goes stiff). If that makes it start first go then you're definitely losing fuel from the injection pump.

Take the top timing belt cover off and check behind the IP for signs that diesel is leaking out the IP shaft seal. If the IP sprocket or engine are wet with diesel, you've found the culprit.

Any chance the checklist still exists somewhere? The link appears to be broken
