91 L300 Sportpac NOT idling (carb tune help?)

Fellow L300 samaritans :)

Hoping someone can give me some insight...

I noticed my L300 running very rich when warming up on idle in neutral over several weeks.

A day or two after replacing the FUEL FILTER, the engine stalled on idle (I could hear it glugging fuel, almost choking itself) and now it doesn't idle at all. I need to keep my foot on the gas to keep it running. Dangerous when driving as steering and breaks lose power too.

My research suggests I never meticulously cleaned both hoses one either side of the fuel filter (rookie - but I'm learning) and now some dirt has gotten into the idle jet or something in the carb. I've been meaning to streamline the fuel / air ratio screws etc but have not done this before and I'd really love to learn how to make my ride breath nice and easy (without doing any significant damage of course)

I've noticed a potential loose connection involving a spring and lever situated near a small cream coloured screw adjustment on the carb, but am unsure if this is the problem. See photos attached :D

I've never opened or removed a carb before. I've found the section in the manuals. To take it apart seems pretty complex. I don't jsut want to pay someone to do it, but havent found someone to tech me while doing it.

Do i even need to take it apart or can I open it and following some advice on here, might I be able to clean it /adjust accordingly? See photos.

Previously I've done a full service myself (oil, oil filter, air filter, new plugs, distributor cables, new radiator hoses and coolant flush...

BIG THANK YOU to you wizards.
