A Cab over Offroad EV?

WANT
...though I might have trouble justifying US$136,600 for an off-road only electric ATV.

The Canoo is almost as adorable and projected to cost around US$35k, even if everyone will end up calling it "the Walmart van"

So, less vaporware, more progress...

That thing is awesome! Look at that gullwing side door! (Still waiting for someone with a Delica to attempt that. :) )

Overland Expo East is happening in a couple weeks in Arrington Virginia. I might attend, and will get some more photos of the van, if I do.

Slight shift on this thread but I‘ve been geeking out on this and figured yall might like this.

A group of Canadian loggers are building a Diesel-Electric heavy hauling truck up in the woods. So far they got a prototype running using 1 tesla motor. Uses a way smaller diesel engine than normal semis as it‘s sole purpose is to re-charge the batteries which power all other systems.

I think their end goal is a drop in system for current heavy haul semis. Also, funny enough, they‘re pretty popular on tiktok

I'd love to grab a beer. I'll probably be there Saturday, for a chunk of the day. I'm in Richmond, so about 2 hours away from Arrington. Let's talk as the date approaches and figure out a plan.

That'll mean there'll be at least two Delicas at the event!

Unfortunately this weekend ended up being busier than I'd hoped and I wasnt able to make it to OE. Looking forward to some of @coop74's photos on this van

Charging stations in the woods? Hopefully not by PG&E! Seriously looks cool if electric vehicles infrastructure matures without issue

That van actually has a little propane generator for remote charging. :). Lol. I don't know how effective that would be if you had to use it. How much propane would it take to fully charge batteries? I think the van is more a proof of concept than a real production vehicle. At $136,000 for an off-road vehicle, clientele will be tiny.

The propane genny is an option and i think they said like 40 miles. But dont hold me to that. BTW, in the picture of the 3 guys working and the young guy looking over their shoulder. The young guy is the CEO. I had about a 30 minute chat with him one on one. Super guy. As i recall his name is Sam. Very impressive young man. I hope to down load some pictures and do a bit of a write up. Sadly one the way home i lost my alternator so i am trouble shooting what it might be. Oddlly i also lost all the idiot lights in the dash too. Any ideas?

I know I've seen this issue mentioned before here, but after a little digging, I still can't find a reference to it.

If it's not a fuse, fusible links and burned connectors next to the battery seem to pop up as a problem pretty regularly.

Just saw an article on this...

Currently it's just a frame with dual motors (front & rear) but it is NOT licensed for On road. Hence the RV towing it to the off-road destination?

See https://www.potentialmotors.com/ for more details
Interesting tip from this photo of it being towed they told me some thing interesting.
The vehicle is all electric, but we all know that... What you might not know is that it has regenerative breaking so while towing it you use the regenerative braking and actually be charging the vehicle to add to the battery level when you arrive at your destination. It is after all currently in the ATV market and not intended for all roads. Note many states, especially out west allow a properly configured ATV on certain roads. For instance TN has such a law.

some of my pictures... sorry i suck at doing pictures.

this is one of the handful of modular accessories that are available for the vehicle. They are partnering with a company in czech company to make them who already is a well know company in Europe. The one show was very high quality, or appears so anyway.

I believe this was noted before but some good details are items like this built in ladder system to reach the roof which appears very functional and the roof is very stout. They did not say, or i did not catch it anyway, how much it will hold but they definitely mentioned that a person could use the access the roof and stand up there...

Added note, in this picture the woman in the back ground is from the Czech company that created the kitchen in the previous picture and was here to support the mfg.

She and i spoke for maybe 15 minutes together and their company is looking to expand to the US market and develop some dealers here so hopefully the modular items they make will be offer in the US similar to how companies like Goose Gear does but it will use a common base system that can be use on individuals DYI build.

They have one that looks like it would be great for a Delica. I have a brocuer and am looking to try to find and upload. I have no idea of pricing however.
