I bought this van

General consensus on the Delica discord is you got a good deal and the seller likely took a bath on it. I'm honestly surprised the 2wd models aren't more common. For most of the general van-life stuff Delicas are used for, 4wd isn't needed by any stretch of the imagination.

What do you mean took a bath on it? Locally for me, 2WD is way more common and I agree with you, I used to be able to accomplish a lot with 2WD and careful driving.

“Take a bath” = losing side of the deal/lost money/(paid too much or got too little, depending on the side of the deal you’re on).

Cheers. Despite being Australian, I still feel as if your idioms and sayings are better than ours (and our colonial motherland). That being said, when I was in the US once I randomly blurted out "Hurry up, you're not here to fuck spiders" and was promptly called in by HR.

I like hearing this. I just bought it on a whim really. but will probably get a roof rack for some kayaks. use to go to the beach. I'm in fl and the van is still in jersey so I look forward to actually having it.

I totally get it, for that price and the condition it should be a treat. Would strongly recommend installing an EGT gauge, potentially even before you drive it back down to Florida (assuming you're getting it and not having it shipped).

thanks, but I don't know what that is but I will look into it. I'm having it shipped even though a road trip would have been fun.

Monitors your exhaust temps. Due to the engine placement these vans generally don't get enough airflow and can overheat, though 2wd will be better as the engine doesn't work as hard. Exhaust Temp Gauge (I'm just now wondering we call it an EGT instead of ETG) will show how hard you're pushing the vehicle.
