EGR Delete

I have the blanking plates coming soon. . . . Will the EGR delete create more exhaust fumes after the delete? Don't want to be a driving smoke bomb in my little beach town. Any precautions to take?

It shouldn't create any more smoke than you already produce. The purpose of the EGR is to recycle NO^2 and other nitrous gasses -- byproducts of dirty fuel combustion -- through the combustion process to break them down further. Unfortunately, the recycler only makes exhaust a tiny bit less problematic environmentally and will donk up your engine intake something awful.

Things I'd do in tandem with EGR delete?
  1. Run 1000 mL of Liquimoly Diesel Purge (2005) through your fuel system, per their instructions. This will get rid of a lot of build up on the pistons and rings.
  2. Change your oil and oil filter. Then change the oil again in about 1k miles. This is going to help clear out ash and other particulates that are trapped in your crankcase.
  3. Optional, but recommended: use a can of LiquiMoly 20208 Pro-Line Diesel Intake System Cleaner (20208) to knock down buildup on your valves and in the intake manifold. (FYI: it will smoke for a while after you do this, but that's a good thing because all that build up is burning off)
  4. Get a good oil catch can and install. This will help condense/reduce oil and ash that will build back up in your intake manifold.
If you blank your EGR *and* do a good job of clearing out 25+ years of gunk your little beach town should notice a dramatic drop in van farts.

Great tips. I will take into consideration once I tackle this project. Mucho Gracias!!
