Front/Rear Axle weights for 96' 4wd JDM Delica

Hey.

I am looking for some documentation that lists the max front/rear weight distribution. The workshops manuals list the GVWR @ 2400kg but no mention of the front/rear distribution that I have found.

Growlerbearnz mentions here the weights as 1300/1450kg ( https://delicaforum.com/index.php?threads/payload.1789/post-13498 ) I am looking for some official documentation or some specifications listed online that match this. Does anyone have any information where these numbers have come from?

Thanks :)

The manual does give the front/rear distributions of the kerb weight. I believe what Grant stated is just the remaining available load divided 50/50 between the front/rear axles (?), I haven't seen anything else; but IDK if that would actually be correct perse. E.g. there is a 2WD version with HD leaf springs/rear shocks and a higher max gross weight... I would assume the extra weight would be biased towards the rear axle.

Thanks for taking the time to reply Steven.

Perhaps I am misunderstanding. Taking P25WLNXTL6 as an example from the manual. Kerb weight 1,785kg, front/1,025kg, rear/760kg, max 2,400kg. I am not sure how to get to 1300/1450kg even with 50/50 split of the 615kg payload.

For anyone who finds this later. I am confident the weights are 1300kg front / 1450kg rear. I am just looking for some documentation to confirm this. I need something official for the import process in Norway.

In Norway this is listed on the vehicle registration and you can look up it up online if you have a licence or VIN number - https://www.vegvesen.no/en/vehicles/buy-and-sell/vehicle-information/sjekk-kjoretoyopplysninger/

Norway has the European P25W models and a GLX trim which is closest to my Active World edition. I checked a number of license plates online and confirmed the maximum axle weights as listed above. I believe it to be the same for the Japanese market models. Some VIN numbers if anyone else needs to look up some information e.g (JMBJNP45VWA000257, JMBJNP45VTA000382, JMBJNP45VVA000299) I have more if it's useful.

I got an original Japanese export certificate (attached) from DelicaUSA in the hope these weights would be listed. Unfortunately not. It only shows the Kerb weight, max weights, front/rear kerb weights.

If anyone has any ideas where these 1300kg front / 1450kg rear max weight numbers could be listed I would appreciate it.

Growlerbearnz mentions here the weights as 1300/1450kg:)

In the post you linked, growler says "On 4WD models maximum rear axle weight is 3197lb (1450kg), front axle weight no more than 2866lb (1300kg), so that will limit how you load the vehicle, especially if you're towing something."

Notice that i highlighted Maximum and also notice that he mentions towing.
GVWR does not include the weight of something being towed. These two are independent. This is why you are not able to get a number to add up to 1450kg.

760kg (Rear Kerb) + 615kg (100% of gvwr) = 1375KG (total rear weight) -1450kg (maximum rear axle weight) = 75kg (weight remaining for other things like towing)

Made a little calculator to help visualize it. Let me know if this helps.

It is in KG. You only need to fill in the orange cell (front axle weight) and every thing else will populate.
If you exceed the Axle Load, The green cells will turn red.

Wow thanks for taking the time to put this together. My question is where these 1300/1450 numbers come from? it still can't be calculated from the other numbers?

@Growlerbearnz has his sources. You'll have to wait for him to respond.

I was just playing around with the spread sheet and made a load calculator on tab 2. Work in progress, but this could be neat for people to drop their stuff into. I may just have to make an excel file and make it downloadable.

Found this little nugget:

Also, here is a little downloadable calculator.
If my understanding of everything above is correct, it will tell you your weight distribution, how much weight before you exceed GVWR, and your axle limits.
Just need to populate the weight column and specify in the drop down what axle it will go over.
This could actually be a little handy for packing our vans and knowing if we are getting close to any load limits.

Sorry all, I've been a bit busy lately! :)
"Has his sources" makes me sound like the head of an evil cabal. Just say "is a great big Delica nerd" ;-)
