What do you think of these drop in cup holders?

Figured out a way to combine these cup holders with the OEM switch panel. Basically, cut the cup holder apart on the table saw, cut the center out of the OEM switch panel, and put it all together using JB-weld black plastic bonder. It just snaps into place in the OEM center console. Pops out to access console mounting screws/wiring/etc.

Also modified the lid's latching lever to make more room for fingers between the lid and cup holder.

Next is a window switch relocation panel...

Holy moly I can't imagine being able to grab my drink freely without having to wildly contort my torso

OOOooOOooo.. that is awesome. a 3D printed "replacement" for the cut up center console insert would be pretty rad if anyone out there knows how to make that (hey Rio!)..... im very reluctant to destroy the OEM parts.

It would be easy enough to make/use a flat plate instead; you would just need to secure it using silicone caulk or RTV gasket maker.

Yea... I'm into retaining the tabs that hold it in place though cause you can still remove it when needed. I dont know enough about 3D printing but maybe 3D printed tabs/clips would break? Nice work either way!

Finally got the modifications completed.

I made router templates so that I can reproduce the switch panel and mounting ring more readily. I also found I can incorporate backlighting into the mounting ring... but I'm not sure how beneficial it will be angled forward.
