This is the official thread for the upcoming sale of the small batch of D4BF Engines that I have coming directly from Korea. I have fought tooth and nail to secure these before the Hyundai plant closed for re-location, the Coronavirus threatened shipping closures, and to mitigate costs from start to finish. My goal is to get these engines here and become the reliable source from this point forward. My markup is $600 per engine.

Includes
Complete Engine
Turbocharger
Injection Pump and Injectors
Alternator
Cooling Fan

Price
Contingent on final customs and freight forwarding fees. Will update ASAP.

ETA
30 Days from 3/8/20

Payment
Refundable $500 deposit to secure your engine purchase.
Cash
Personal Check

Credit Card - 3% Processing Fee paid by purchaser

Cheers,
Kellyn

Regarding stateside shipping, where is your warehouse located? How much will the engines weigh? What are the crated engine dimensions? Are the engines first-come, first-served?

An engine swap is probably too big of a project for me to take on myself. I will probably look for a mechanic to do it. Anybody know of any mechanics on the west coast who could swap out my engine for me? The closer to San Luis Obispo, the better.

My van currently has a 4D56 that is working fine, except for a rear main seal leak, and the alternator is acting up. It is getting a little long in the tooth. However, a new D4BF will give me the reliability I want.

Waiting on a final word from my machinist friend to see if he can mend my cracked head, but if it’s too far gone I am very interested in getting one shipped to California.

if anyone else close by is interested, it would be great to collaborate.

Close by where?

Kellyn,

Is there a line for the new engines? and I guess more specifically is there room for the first batch that will be coming over ?

I am using a first come method which will require a deposit. This is because I have more people than engines at this point. They weigh 500 lbs and I am unaware of individual dimensions at this time.

Send your van to me and I will put the engine in for you. I will give you a discount on the engine if you choose this option.

Update 3/25/20

The Bill of Lading indicates cargo arrival on April 10th at port Miami FL. I don't know how long unstuffing, customs and final shipment to my location will take but I can only assume a couple of weeks. Original ETA was April 1st but the Coronavirus caused tremendous port delays in S. Korea port Kobe.

Close by where?
I’m right outside San Francisco.

Currently, I’m in a pickle because I was supposed to try and see if a machinist* friend could fix my cracked head for free which would involve having my mechanic take the head off, then ship it to Seattle and that’s not a sure thing. My gut is telling me to pony up for the new engine and get it done. Shipping to Kellyn and having him do it is an enticing option, but I’m sure it would cost $1000+ for a one way ship.

WAIT LIST OPEN GO GO GO

If you missed this shipment there's still hope! We'll be contacting those of you who have already pre-ordered your engines next week to arrange for payment and shipping details. If we are unable to contact any buyers for any reason or they are unable to make the final payment we will begin to sell to buyers from the wait list. Of course if we get enough interest on the wait list we can also try to secure another shipment...this time...pre-palletised. Please everyone pour some out for the screws in Kellyn's bones.

If you did not receive a message from Kellyn or I please contact me!
