I ended up throwing a rod on my way back home on a cross country trip. As it stands she’s stuck in a shop in Nebraska. I thought about upgrading with the newer Huyndai engine. However the mechanics are hesitant on installing the same thing but a little different (even though I explained it’s the same thing +\- 2%. If anyone were to have an extra 4d56 laying around in decent condition I could possibly borrow or buy or even rent? I would be greatly appreciative, I just need to get the beast to a major city where they can upgrade the thing with the newer engine. Hell, if one of you guys lives close to Nebraska and could give me a tow that would help too!

Should be cheaper to just ship it to whoever is going to do the engine upgrade.

One of the suppliers/shops on the west coast of Canada sells refurbed complete motors. i dont remember the name but look and you should find them.

Agree with sk66. Makes no sense to pay a mechanic to install an engine temporarily. Ship it to wherever it needs to go. You can ship a vehicle halfway across the country for a few hundred bucks.

Most of the outfits online play a game where they quote you and you sign the contract then they keep trying to up the quote after it's scheduled. If you refuse they simply cancel the contract. hey don't actually have a lane for your shipment when they quote you which is dumb and, effectively a low stakes bait/switch.

Find a standup auto shipper locally and, if they can't handle it in house, ask if they would broker it for you. A decent shipper won't fleece you on the brokerage and will connect you with another decent shipper. Make sure you indicate it's not running and needs a winch to load. That is a widely accepted extra cost to the shipment.

Also fwiw, I tried craigslisting a shipment before and don't recommend unless you like entertaining a series of clowns, flakes and sketchos.

Not sure where you are looking but my neighbor just had a Toyota Sienna minivan shipped from Tennessee to New Mexico for $400. You can ship a vehicle across the ocean for a few grand...maybe less!
Could you ask for me please, Ive been desperately looking and am unable to find a cheaper option.

He used autotransport.com to get quotes. You’re looking at transport two states over...what, 10 hours? I shipped a motorcycle a year ago from Nevada with covered transport for $300 flat (insured).

I have a running 4d56 n/a for sale 1400. I live in Redmond Oregon.

Let me know if you still need one.
