L300 Side Ladders.

Amen. Do the math on the: design/raw material/cutting raw material/machining/ jig and weld/finishing for paint/perishables: weld gas/rods/ abrasives paint/utilities/overhead /box and ship for free/recover from trashing the shop in the build/ some sort of profit.
This is not the grace I referenced and hoped for in my comment. This seems to only reinforce others' experiences and isolate mine.

I was going to say the same thing. But in reply to your other comment as well, nothing has been brought up to remedy any of our concerns. There hasn’t been any communication to anyone voicing their displeasure with the product besides the snarky responses on this thread.

Keeping in mind, our newly shared etiquette rules.

I hope we can all agree that NONE of us wanted the ladders to rust this quickly. Whether we made/sold them or bought them. I agree with @CodyHennigan that "outside of the paint, the ladder is pretty badass."

I do not believe that Xplormor was trying to scam anyone, I know from experience the first few products you try to sell are usually break even (at best) and later when you produce in mass, have figured out the easier/faster way to build, etc... that is where the profit side kicks in.

Now how to mitigate this in the future, @Xplormor Offroad has feedback to incorporate in their next batches of products. As to the potential remedies for the ones already sold/ starting to develop rust spots?

Willing to give Xplormor Offroad, some leeway as the builder (I did use their hitch brackets to solve my bumper issues). As an 'early adopter' in many kickstarter like projects subsequent editions usually address shortcomings or learned issues. Not really sure what they can do to fix these now that they are out in the hands of individual owners? On my other vehicles that see off road duty I usually touch up (slight sand, prep and repaint sections) the sliders, bumpers etc once a season since I never powder coat anything that is likely to get impacted by road debris.
Current owners are likely left to fix these on their own, not ideal but likely.
I would suggest removing the ladders, sand, re coat w/primer, paint (following directions on cans for recoat & drying times) install grip tape tread surfaces to protect high friction areas.
Having said all that, my opinion of their since deleted post of "kumbaya" was pretty lame. In the end with most things caveat emptor.

Completed a new design for Delica L300 side ladder. This clamps on the drip rail and has two fasteners that mount through the rocker pinch weld. 2 small notches are required at the lower edge of the side trim. $250 + FedEx at cost. Like to do a qty 4 build. We have one hit on the Facebook Star Wagon site.

I'm interested in buying one of these if you have any more.

See the new thread in classified section that price is not correct . Steel prices are 2x what they were when we started this and we have moved to powder coating.

Were these issues ever resolved? I am interested in a ladder, but would like to know if their are still unresolved rusty ladders out there.

I believe they’re powder coated now. I have an older version that I really like, besides the little bit of rust developing.

All the new ones are sand blasted and fine texture black powder coated it is an extra expense and production delay as we needed to send them out . It was an odd batch that went out where the bed liner was thinned with Acetone. If we shoot bed liner we do not cut it with anything now. Just open the gun needle setting up and raise the pressure to get it out of the gun. Thanks for the support !
BTW we have a 4x8 ft CNC plasma cutting machine due any day so that will hopefully clear up some of our production delays and influence some new lines of product!

You have a new batch of ladders soon? I'm interested

Alex and I are discussing doing some flat pattern ladders with rectangular tubular rungs. Split vertical sides so we can get shipping length down to ship internationally, This will also make it more modular as we do Hiace and L400 as well. A similar concept will be applied to modular racks.

Drip rail mounts will change so we can run long on the cross bars if needed but std offering would be 48". As this will map to Land Rover, Hiace etc. Ideally get these modular racks to ship FedEx or UPS vs a fully welded 10 Ft rack, but those are pretty boss as well...
